Just 45 minutes North of the Cancun hotel zone lies the new destination of Costa Mujeres. I visited there a week ago, and I was impressed! The beautiful blue waters of the Caribbean just shine next to the softest white sand. There is 11 resorts up and running in this area, RIU Palace was the first to open in this location, but there is also some other great resorts like Secrets, Excellence, Palladium and more.
While Excellence is an upscale adults-only property that is a quiet, serene with amazing culinary choices. Finest, its sister property features all of these features plus more for the kids. A great family resort that has the amenities to have fun with the family but also has some secluded locations to relax while the kids are at the Kids Camp. You could even sip on a glass of wine and dip in the pool right out your room with a swim out suite option. PURE BLISS!
We continued our Costa Mujeres visit to The Palladium Resort. This resort is broken into three sections, the Grand Palladium resort, TRS, and The Family Selection. Due to the different sections that specialize in different needs (TRS-adults only, Grand-Families, Singles and Couples, and Family Selection-Families), this is an excellent option for multigenerational families or weddings.
TRS is the adult-only section of the Palladium. It is quiet and the rooms facing the inner part of the resort were overlooking magnificent gardens and beautiful flowers. The courtyard facing swim out suites were lovely for a couple trying to just relax and reconnect.
Our last resort to visit in this area was the RIU Costa Mujeres Palace. The vibe was completely different at this resort with vibrate reds throughout and more of an energy with the guests. A couple of things that it did have in common was the beautiful beach and water, it is a deep deep with many places to sit. Also, the spaciousness and cleanliness of the property. Activities were hopping when we stopped by the foam party in the pool that happens each afternoon.
Overall, I felt that Costa Mujeres is a beautiful area with fantastic beaches and water. It is sheltered by Isla Mujeres, and so the seaweed has not been a problem thus far. This is a destination that is worth exploring; the question now is which one will fit your travel needs?
